Mercury News, Denver Post Cut Newsroom Staff

The San Jose Mercury News is cutting staff--again. This round, 40 newsroom staffers will be laid off in July--a 17% reduction. The losses are due to declines in ad revenue. This is the third newsroom cut in 18 months at the McClatchy-owed newspaper. Separately, the Denver Post announced that seven newsroom employees were laid off; 14 others accepted buyout offers.
