Cross-Pollination: CBS Radio Bows Web Video

CBS Radio is set to introduce a new Web video feature today, "Live from the Web Carpet," with live streaming coverage of big red-carpet movie premieres--starting with the opening of "Transformers" in Los Angeles. The company's announcement marks another entry in the emerging online medium of radio-TV, where competitors like Clear Channel have been aggressively rolling out new video products.

The half-hour Web program, anchored by radio host Leo Quinones of Film Freak, will include interviews with the stars, behind-the-scenes footage, commentary from executive producers Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg, and an exclusive sneak peek of movie footage that can only be viewed during the live Webcast or subsequent on-demand showings.

Fans can also enter an online contest to win movie posters signed by the stars, view trailers, download photo stills and buy tickets online. Banner ads on the site link to the official "Transformers" site.

"Live from the Web Carpet" is just the latest in a series of Web video offerings from radio broadcasters. Last week, CBS Radio-owned Chicago station 670 "The Score" announced the launch of a video chat room that allows users to see in-studio conversations, as well as listener call-ins, via streaming Web video.
