NBC's 'Singing Bee' Premiere Flies High

Stop the music. Hold off those summer TV laurels for NBC's "The Singing Bee." The karaoke singing show dropped 27% to a 3.7 rating in its second original episode from a 5.1 rating the week before.

Last week's premiere numbers for "Bee" were a shock to some TV observers--easily posting the best numbers for any show this summer, higher than two mainstay Fox reality shows "So You Think You Can Dance?" and "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?"

Still, NBC has a lot to be thankful for. "Bee" was the highest-rated show of the night--beating out "Shaq's Big Challenge" on ABC and "Big Brother" on CBS.

Also good for NBC, "Bee" improved on NBC's reality show "America's Got Talent," which came up with a 3.2 rating/10 share.

That gave NBC the win for the night with a 3.1/10. ABC was second with a 2.4/8, and CBS grabbed third with a 2.0/6. Then came Fox with a 1.5/5, CW at a 0.6/2, and MyNetworkTV at a 0.4/1.
