OVAB Forms Advisory Board

The Out-of-Home Video Advertising Bureau is reaching out to the advertising world with the formation of an advisory board that will include 14 executives from leading media planning and buying agencies.

Founded in 2007, the OVAB represents leading out-of-home video nets and the ad community. The board is an important addition, as OVAB creates a new measurement currency for the burgeoning medium of place-based video advertising.

Kim Norris, president of OVAB, said that "the agency advisory board is key in helping OVAB to break down the barriers to adoption of digital advertising networks." While the medium is attractive, advertisers have complained about the lack of a measurement currency and the need to aggregate place-based networks for easier, "one-stop-shop" ad buys.

Despite these obstacles, out-of-home video is growing at a breakneck pace, according to Magna Global, which pegged the 2007 market at over $1 billion and forecast 24.7% growth in 2008.

Members of the new advisory board include Alec Gerster, the CEO of Initiative; David Verklin, CEO of Carat; Robert C. Martin, vice president and group media director for Universal McCann; Jim Spaeth, founder and principal of Sequent Partners; Heather Armstrong, director of out-of-home media for GSDM; Judi Crisileo, vice president of Outdoor Services; Norm Chiat, vice president and director of out-of-home for MediaVest; Dan Wilkins, chief operating officer at Wilkins Media; Kris Magel, national broadcast account manager for Zenith; Damon Peirson, vice president and group director of out-of-home for Zenith; Ryan Laul, managing director for Hyperspace Digital; Baba Shetty, executive vice president and director of media for Hill Holliday, and Jeff Minsky, director of NEXT OMD
