The Second British Invasion

In the 60s it was the Beatles. Today, there's a new British invasion exploding on to the American scene.

Just weeks after being named the top creative interactive agency in the world by Advertising Age International, London-based Deepend has set its sights on conquering the U.S. with the launch of 2 new offices in New York and San Francisco.

Incorporating convergent technologies to create original marketing and content, Deepend-San Francisco's aim is to spearhead the digital revolution now taking shape in Hollywood. The San Francisco office is targeting the entertainment industry with websites for films, interactive television, online gaming, original animation and short films, and other online identity and marketing work.

Deepend, founded in 1994 by Simon Waterfall, Gary Lockton and David Streek, has collected several International Advertising awards for its work, including a Gold Clio for London's design museum and for its website for the Volkswagen New Beetle. Current clients for its U.S. offices include Kenneth Cole, Imagine Media, and the upcoming Mill Valley Film Festival. Most recently, Deepend struck development deals with Apple Quicktime and Wieden Kennedy. The company will continue to forge relationships within the entertainment and interactive advertising industries, and management expects U.S. revenue this year of $4 million.

The digital design agency, which already has offices in London, Rome, Sydney, and New York, recently settled in San Francisco's Haight Street. According to CEO Gary Lockton, settling in a San Francisco was a natural next step for the company. "Deepend has always traded with culture as its primary currency. With this in mind, there could be no more suitable location in the United States than San Francisco."

Managing Director of the San Francisco office is Paul Cloutier, formerly of Fly Media, and Marketing Director is John MacLeod, formerly of Autodesk and founder of Digiquest Learning Center in San Rafael.

While Deepend San Francisco moves forward with its charge on Hollywood and Silicon Valley, the company will continue to expand its global reach with plans for offices in Copenhagen, Munich and Asia.
