Before you do that, however, BURST! Media sent out the results of their recent survey of nearly 10,000 web users 18 years and older yesterday, which showed that two out of three (65.7%) web users used the Internet to either research or purchase travel. Additionally, according to their findings, of those respondents who have used the Internet as a travel resource, 60% have researched and conducted an online travel transaction - while 40% have used the web solely as an information resource.
BURST says that, not surprisingly, frequency of travel does impact web usage - generally, respondents who travel more frequently are most likely to conduct an online travel transaction.
Also, the survey found, Web users who conduct online travel transactions tend to have higher levels of education (77% attended/graduated college), and income (48.6% with income of $50,000 and higher) than not only those who do not use the Internet as a travel resource, but also those who use the Internet solely as a research vehicle.
Among survey respondents who use the Internet solely as a research tool the most popular tasks are research travel destinations (79.3%), research airline flights and fares (46.6%), research hotel accommodations and prices (44.8%), and research tour/travel operators (25.1%).
