Wendy's Puts A New Twist On Frosty

  • August 16, 2007
Dublin, Ohio-based Wendy's is out with a twist on its Frosty called, appropriately, the Twisted Frosty.

Mixed into the original product, a cross between a milkshake and soft-serve ice cream, are either M&Ms or Oreo pieces.

Until last year, chocolate had been the only Frosty flavor since its development in 1969 as one of five items on the first menu. In 2006, Wendy's began offering vanilla Frostys and, earlier this year, Frosty Floats were added.

Says CMO Ian Rowden in a release: "This is another example of how we're actively leveraging the untapped power of the Frosty brand by giving consumers an array of new and exciting choices."

Wendy's restaurants annually serve more than 600 million Frostys, with vanilla now accounting for about 40% of sales after one year.
