VeriSign Settles Lawsuit on Direct Mail Campaign

VeriSign Inc. and Go Daddy Software have settled a lawsuit that accused VeriSign of false advertising in a direct-mail campaign that targeted customers of rival companies. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. It’s the second lawsuit against VeriSign that has been settled. BulkRegister.com Inc. settled a lawsuit with VeriSign in August. The Mountain View, Calif., company had urged recipients to return forms along with a payment or risk losing their Web addresses, the lawsuit said. But most didn’t realize that doing so would transfer their domain name registration to VeriSign.
