Unilever Offers IPod Shuffles In 'Go Green' School Contest

Unilever's All Small & Mighty is launching a nationwide eco-education program that challenges elementary school students to become environmentalists and help their families "go green" at home. In the process, the kids get a chance to win an iPod shuffle for every student in their school and $50,000 to pay for green improvements to their school.

The company's "Go Green & Small With 'All'" involves a web site, gogreenwithall.com, where kids and parents can complete Eco-Report Cards to track their efforts to make the grade. Kids can share stories and photos online, and teachers can download grade-appropriate lesson plans to bring the message into the classroom.

The elementary school that submits the greatest percentage of Eco-Report Cards--and the most passionate, original and environmentally relevant Eco-Stories--will win a green iPod shuffle with an environmentally friendly solar charger for every student in the school and a $50,000 grant toward green improvements like an eco-friendly playground.

Plus, they will have a chance to be featured on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and win a one-year supply of All Small & Mighty for their families. Nine other finalist schools will each win $5,000. Entries are due by Nov. 26; winners will be announced in January.

"We believe that young students have the passion to help their families become more environmentally active and aware," says Helayna Minsk, Unilever marketing director for All laundry detergent, in a release that it posted on Monday.

A spokesperson for Unilever said that marketing includes a partnership with AOL but did not elaborate.
