ABC News Goes Aloft

ABC News inked a deal with Delta Air Lines to become the airline's in-flight news provider starting July 1. Under the terms of the exclusive deal negotiated by Spafax Inflight Entertainment, ABC News will deliver no less than 90 minutes of new programming each month to Delta passengers. ABC anchors Peter Jennings, Diane Sawyer, Charles Gibson, Barbara Walters, and John Stossel, and correspondent Dan Harris will introduce news reports covering business, technology, science, health, and education news. Each month, ABC News will produce four 15-minute reports for domestic flights and one 30-45 minute report for international flights. Delta Air Lines' in-flight programming currently features video content from ESPN, the Food Network, and a variety of the ABC network's entertainment programs. Separately, The Walt Disney Co. recently warned investors that it may have to write off a $119 million aircraft investment in Delta if the carrier ends up in bankruptcy court. Disney is one of several companies that lease planes to Delta and other carriers. ABC News is a Walt Disney Co.
