Campus Dollars: Alloy, College Newspapers Form Alliance

Alloy Media + Marketing is becoming the official ad partner of the College Newspapers Business and Advertising Managers, a business network of college newspapers. The alliance gives Alloy clients access to distribution via 130 member papers around the country, adding to Alloy's existing relationships with 2,400 college publications nationwide.

In addition to sponsoring the CNBAM's yearly convention, Alloy is set to fund a series of seminars and classes for newspaper advertising managers that promises to sharpen their marketing skills--including in the "new media space" of the Internet.

The agreement includes access to CNBAM member Web sites, and the seminars funded by Alloy will include strategies to grow online audiences.

Andrew Sawyer, executive vice president of media services, Alloy Media + Marketing, touted the opportunities for marketers "hoping to grab a slice of the record $263 billion in spending power these 17.6 million students represent." Sawyer claimed that 78% of students go to campus newspapers as their main source of news, information and local entertainment.
