Gamers Choose Clinton For Next U.S. President

  • December 14, 2007
If online gamers are any guide, Hillary Clinton will be the next president of the United States.

Casual game site Miniclip recently debuted a new game called "Presidential Paintball" that lets players assume the roles of opposing presidential candidates locked in fierce paintball battles. Users are also polled on their pick to win the White House.

With nearly 7 million "votes" cast since Dec. 5, Clinton leads the pack with more than 2.2 million, or 51% of the total on the Democratic side. Obama trails badly at 33%, and Edwards at 16%.

Things are tighter on the Republican side, where Romney leads with 43% of the vote, to 34% for McCain and 23% for Giuliani. Okay--so only about half of the Miniclip voters come from within the U.S., and don't have to be 18 to participate.

Rob Small, the company's CEO, pointed out that a Hip hop-themed election game it ran in 2004 drew 12 million votes, and correctly predicted the election of George W. Bush.
