Former Advertising.com Exec Launches Cellware, Social Networking-Oriented Mobile Media Site

  • December 19, 2007
Former Advertising.com co-founder John Ferber has launched Cellware.com, an ad-supported mobile media site heavy on social networking features.

Cellware's content includes ringtones, wallpapers, games, video clips and other mobile applications. Content suppliers include No Good TV, Go Music Network, Oddcast, SoundIdeas and Hanaho Games.

In addition, the site encourages users to create personalized content through video-sharing, photo-sharing and ringtone and ringtone mashup tools.

Taking a page from video-sharing sites such as Revver and Metacafe, Cellware will split ad revenues from user-generated content uploaded to the site.

Ferber--Cellware's CEO as well as founder--left Advertising.com in 2006, after the networks' 2004 acquisition by AOL for $435 million.
