His magazines have been around for a long, long time (okay, since 2004), and now Donald Trump is bringing the sweet, sweaty smell of his success to Ocean Drive. He might finally have found the perfect home at Jerry Powers’ burgeoning custom publishing empire, which already includes in-room pubs for the Wynn Resort in Vegas and the Venetian in Bal Harbour. It sounds like a match made in heaven. If only Jason Binn could get one of his chins in, you’d be looking at an unholy trinity.

This is the third go-round in the magazine kingdom for His Hairness. The ill-fated Trump World crashed and burned, then was reborn as just plain Trump, which had a bit more luck as a quarterly put out by PPG Media. The new quarterly from Ocean Drive, also called, surprise-surprise, Trump, has a circulation of 100,000 and can be found on nightstands across Trump properties, and, presumably, newsstands, with a cover price of $5.95.

At the same time, Doubledown is sort of filling the how-to-spend-a-lot-of-money custom-publishing niche with The Player’s Club, an investment and lifestyle magazine for pro athletes. Doubledown says they already have ad commitments from AIG and Mercedes-Benz for the title with a circ of 20,000 and an April 2008 launch date. And, we are not making this up, the publisher is former Met and Philly Lenny Dykstra. Yes, that’s right. The little man they call Nails has his very own financial mag. Ron Darling and John Kruk will serve on his “Player’s Committee” (we are not making that part up, either.)
