A Plethora Of Search Options For Job Hunters

While not a hardcore search article per se, Alan D. Mutter's piece on how print newspapers continue to bleed recruitment dollars online gives a brief rundown of the myriad job search options users have online, starting with massive aggregators like CareerBuilder.com.

But he argues that even those industry leaders are facing competition from the hiring companies themselves (like Wal-Mart, HP and others) who list all open positions companywide on their own Web site, as well as vertical engines like Gas Work (for anesthesiologists) and The Ladders (for C-Level and senior management positions). Other online job search options include classifieds like Craig's List and Oodle (which scrapes listings from all around the Web, including biggies like Monster and HotJobs),

There are also job search widgets, like the one from Spring Widgets, which will deliver results from SimplyHired.com to your desktop, as soon as the engine's crawler finds a result tailored to user's preferences. Lastly, there's NotchUp.com, a recruitment service that lists offers from companies that are willing to pay to interview qualified candidates.
