Billboard’s White Dead at 50

Timothy White, the influential editor of Billboard magazine, known for his signature bow-ties and his encyclopedic knowledge of music, died of an apparent heart attack yesterday. He was 50. White collapsed at Billboard's New York headquarters shortly before 3 p.m. EDT and was rushed to St. Vincent's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
