Resolution Media's Spiegel To Take Helm Of OMG Digital

It took two months, but Omnicom Media Group Digital has found a new leader in Matt Spiegel, founder and CEO of Resolution Media.

On April 1, Spiegel is set to fill the void created in January when Sean Finnegan left to take on the challenge of chief media officer at contextual online ad network Vibrant Media.

"My focus is ensuring the continued development of the functional expertise needed to engrain digital media strategies," Spiegel said of his new post.

"I'll be focused on the development of business intelligence systems that provide easy access to--and use of--data, as well as improve our productivity; a constant focus on talent development; enhancing our platform for innovation, and more."

Resolution Media, a marketing shop focused on search and Web analytics, was acquired by Omnicom in 2005. Day-to-day operations will now be overseen by Resolution's newly named president David Gould.

For Spiegel, data and measurable intelligence will remain his beacon as CEO of OMG.

"We will certainly continue to emphasize the importance of data-driven strategies," Spiegel told Online Media Daily. "We think that all marketers will find methods for leveraging data, of many forms, in their decision-making process."

Out of OMG's Chicago office, Spiegel will report directly to Daryl Simm, CEO of Omnicom Media Group.

"Matt has an outstanding profile to lead this effort, including an entrepreneurial spirit to get things done, the experience of over a decade in digital media, and an understanding of our clients' needs," Simm said in a statement.

Sean Finnegan, the long-time digital media director at Omnicom's OMD unit, last summer was tapped to head Omnicom's newly formed OMG Digital unit, an organization overseeing the digital media assets of all of Omnicom's media operations, representing an estimated $2 billion in digital media spending, according to RECMA estimates.

At Vibrant, Finnegan presently oversees marketing, business development, and product innovation, working closely with Vibrant's 85-person sales team, while managing relationships with agencies and publishers.
