Clinton Promotes Elton John Fundraiser On Facebook, MySpace

  • March 28, 2008
Bill Clinton swept into the White House to the strains of Fleetwood Mac's "Don't Stop." Now Hillary Clinton is turning to Elton John for an upcoming concert to boost her campaign coffers.

That won't make her look hip against Obama, whose campaign has gotten support from the likes of Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am and YouTube phenomenon OK GO. Not to mention the video valentines from Obama Girl.

Nevertheless, in messages blasted out to supporters this week on Facebook and MySpace, Clinton is offering two contributors the chance to win VIP tickets see Elton John in concert April 9 at Radio City Music Hall.

In a recent post, Michael Connery of the youth-voter blog Future Majority complained of receiving the Elton John missive at all. "This is an old person's appeal (no offense to my elders), but they obviously view it as a youth draw since Chelsea is the one promoting it," he wrote, concluding: "This is as tone deaf as it gets."
