Digital, Traditional Media Fuel Aegis Growth

Aegis Group, the parent of Carat, Isobar, Posterscope and Vizeum, this morning reported a healthy organic revenue growth rate of 8.3%, fueled primarily by the strength of its media operations. Aegis Media, the division overseeing Aegis' media networks, rose 10.3% on an organic basis, while Synovate, the division that oversees Aegis research operations rose 5.0%.

"Our financial position remains robust," Aegis reported, adding that the company has made six acquisitions so far this year, including media operations such as White Sheep in Finland, completing the Suddenly full-service Nordics digital network, JJP in sponsorship and experiential marketing in Sweden and Checkit in search in the Netherlands.

The company attributed its strong media results to Isobar's "market-leading position in digital services," as well as growth from existing clients and healthy net new business wins during 2007, including Johnson & Johnson in EMEA and Mattel globally.

During the first quarter of 2008, Aegis Media picked up the AA and Sky by Isobar UK, The Telegraph by Carat UK, Cofidis and Portugal Telecom Mobile by Carat Portugal, Seagate by Carat USA, Suzuki by Vizeum Canada, Kraft by Carat China and Beiersdorf by Carat Hong Kong and Indonesia.

Despite relatively slower growth rates within Synovate, Aegis said "demand remains healthy across all regions" for its research services, and predicted it would continue to outpace the overall marketing research marketplace.
