VH1 Posts Ratings Increase

Continuing an upward trend that began a year ago, VH1 has posted 50% growth in primetime ratings and 100% growth in total day ratings for the third quarter to date in 2003. VH1's primetime ratings in the 18-49 demo averaged a 0.3 rating in the months of April, May and June (up through June 22), a 50% increase over the second quarter of last year. In total day, the network's ratings among viewers 18-49 averaged a 0.2 rating, a 100% increase compared to the same time period last year. VH1 Divas Duets was the top-rated program in basic cable on its premiere night of May 22 among women 18-49 while scoring the third-highest ratings out of all viewers 18-49 with a 1.2 rating. Nearly 10 million viewers tuned in for the live telecast and its immediate encore on premiere night. Four premieres of VH1's Born to Diva series were among the network's top-20 rated programs among 18-49 viewers in May. The series followed the contest among divas-in-training who competed for a grand prize live national singing debut on VH1 Divas Duets.
