Verizon has won city approval to sell television service in New York, competing with Time Warner Cable and Cablevision, reports Bloomberg. That means that Verizon will begin selling TV service by year's end under the FiOS brand. The plan is to cover 3.3 million homes in the city's five boroughs over the next six years, giving Verizon the ability to for a triple play--packaging TV, Internet and phone.
