Adidas Sues Wal-Mart For Stealing Its Stripes

  • June 20, 2008
Women's Wear Daily reports that Adidas AG is suing Wal-Mart Stores Inc., claiming the stores' use of two- and four-strip motifs on Wal-Mart sneakers is too similar to Adidas' trademarked three stripes.

The case will be heard in a Portland, Ore. court--the same court that awarded Adidas $305 million last month in a ruling against Payless ShoeSource. An Adidas lawyer declared that settlement the largest ever in a trademark case.
