Matsushita Changing Name To Panasonic

  • June 30, 2008
Osaka industrial giant Matsushita Electric Industrial, which has been an engine of Japan's industrial revolution since before the first World War, is changing its name. Effective October, the company will wear the raiment of its global consumer brand, Panasonic.

The name change to Panasonic Corporation changes Matsushita's ticker symbol at the New York Stock Exchange from "MC" to "PC."

In 2003, the company, which is 90 years old this year, made Panasonic its global brand, and introduced the tag, "Panasonic ideas for life."
