Formerly CrackSpace.com, iHipHop launches with nearly 800,000 users, according to the company. The new site is launching with new and updated features, including user-profile widgets, video chat, blogs, and a hip-hop wiki, for users to engage with the community.
The company's founder and chief executive, Charles L. "Chuck" Wilson Jr., is also founder and chief executive of Babygrande Records, a New York-based record label. Before founding Babygrande, Wilson was director of A&R for a major label, Priority Records, and director of business affairs for Black Entertainment Television.
IHipHop, a property of Triumph Media Holdings, Inc., was formerly operated as CrackSpace.com and launched in November 2006 as one of the Web's first hip-hop social networks.
