Turner, Yahoo Kick Off Sports, Ad Alliance

NBA2Turner Broadcasting and Yahoo! have struck a multiyear advertising deal for sports content, including NBA, NASCAR and golf.

Yahoo! Sports will gain access to basketball, golf and NASCAR content from NBA.com, PGATOUR.com, PGA.com and NASCAR.com, league sites managed by Turner. At the same time, all display, sponsorship and video ad opportunities within these pages on Yahoo! Sports will now be sold exclusively through the Turner Network.

Turner says the deal with Yahoo will provide improved audience targeting technologies that Yahoo! Online site provides -- something it can now extend to its more traditional TV marketers. It will also help promote certain league initiatives for NASCAR, PGA and the NBA.

Turner has some 19 sports, news and entertainment digital properties.

"Aligning with Yahoo! Sports adds another dimension to our digital platforms and enables us to extend the distribution of content and advertisers' marketing messages by leveraging each company's national audience," said David Levy, president of Turner Broadcasting Sales, Inc. and Turner Sports, in a press release.

"By aligning with Turner and enabling them to extend Yahoo! inventory to sell to advertisers, we will engage the most targeted audience of sports enthusiasts available on the Internet," added Todd Teresi, senior vice president of Yahoo!'s Publisher Channel.

This alliance extends Yahoo! Sports plan, started in October 2007, to allow publishers more access to its online destinations.
