MyHomeIdeas.com, the new home and garden portal launched by Time Inc.'s Southern Progress Corporation, is giving away an "Idea House" worth $1 million in Northern Florida's WindMark Beach. The sweepstakes, which will run from August 1 to September 30, will help publicize the creation of the new online destination, which draws on the editorial expertise of the company's titles, like Southern Living and Coastal Living.

The Idea House giveaway will be a cross-platform program with online, print and on-location elements, including a channel on MyHomeIdeas.com showcasing original content and updates about the project. Online visitors can look at the home's floor and post feedback on a blog devoted to the giveaway.

Time Inc. will publicize the sweepstakes with advertising in various titles' July, August and September issues. WindMark is a planned community built by the Joe Corporation, "beautifully situated on one of the last, great undiscovered beaches in Florida," according to Jerry M. Ray, senior vice president for strategic alliances. The Idea House was designed by Cooper, Robertson, & Partners of New York; the interior designer is E. Dale Trice of Design Services of Florida.

Rolling Stone Tries Smaller Version

There may be less of Wenner Media's flagship title Rolling Stone if the publisher gets a positive response to a test issue that reduces the size substantially and makes the magazine glossier, according to the New York Observer. The magazine's shrunk-down mid-July double issue contains a letter from founder Jann Wenner encouraging readers to fill out a survey online.

Osberg Leaves Newsweek

Greg Osberg is leaving his role as president of Newsweek, effective this fall, with plans to get into a purely digital business. Although Osberg said his decision to leave was unrelated to recent layoffs and adverse business conditions, Newsweek is being hit hard by a downward trend in ad revenue. Through June, Newsweek's ad pages are down 24.1% to 673, according to MIN Online; meanwhile, Time is down 29.6% to 712, and U.S. News and World Report is down 30% to 544.

LHJ Names Co-Ad Directors

Sage Edson and Valerie Thiel have been promoted to co-ad directors for Ladies' Home Journal. Previously, Edson was New York manager and Thiel was Midwest manager.

Kalin Leaves Rodale for Westwood One

Rodale's chief operating officer Steven Kalin is leaving the magazine business for radio--joining Westwood One, where he will assume the role of executive vice president and chief operating officer. Kalin was also a member of Rodale's board of directors. At Westwood, he will be responsible for network, traffic and I.T., and will also participate in strategic planning and business development.

Saveur Names Spelman NW Account Director

Nathalie Spelman has been named the northwest account director for Saveur, publisher. Spelman comes to Saveur from Foster's Wine Estates, Americas, a global company where she served as brand manager, innovation.

Donavito Named EIC of Twist

Bauer Publishing has promoted Tina Donavito to editor in chief of Twist, its teen celebrity style magazine. Previously, Donavito was executive editor. She fills the role left vacant by Molly MacDermot, who previously led both Twist and M, but will now focus exclusively on M.

Jean Chatzky New More Contributing Editor

Jean Chatzky, a well-known financial advice expert, is joining More as a contributing editor. Her first column will appear in the October 2008 issue; she will also write larger feature stories about money issues. Chatzky will continue as financial editor for NBC's "Today Show."
