Univision Awards Sizzle, 'Dance' Moves

Fox's So You Think You Can Dance? While CBS was, yes, going to the dogs, Univision found some headlines with a three-hour special youth-targeted award show on Thursday night.

The Spanish-language network "Premios Juventud 2008" (Youth Awards) racked up a Nielsen Media Research preliminary 2.2 rating among 18-49 adults--the second-best-rated show of the night. The awards recognize celebrities, artists and athletes who are popular among Hispanic youth. The No. 1 show of the night was Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance?" which earned a 2.7.

As a result, Univision grabbed a rare first-place spot, tied with Fox. Both networks averaged a 2.2 rating.

The second week of CBS' "The Greatest American Dog" couldn't keep pace against its debut of a week ago, moving down to a 1.6 rating from a 2.1 the week before--a hefty 24% drop. The show pits dogs and their owners against each other in various competitions. CBS came in at third place for the night, with a 1.7/5.
