Deals Boost Truckside Ad Fleet

  • January 5, 2001
MediaVehicles Inc., a truckside advertising company, has signed exclusive agreements to manage the truckside advertising programs of Anderson News Co. and Cabano Kingsway Transport Inc. The two contracts give MediaVehicles an even stronger presence in major markets throughout the United States and Canada.

With distribution routes in 45 states and annual sales of $1.2 billion, privately held Anderson News is a wholesale distributor of magazines in the U.S., delivering periodicals and books to more than 40,000 retail customers. Canada-based Cabano Kingsway, a subsidiary of TransForce Inc. with revenues over $400 million, provides less-than-truckload (LTL), truckload (TL) and specialized transport services throughout Canada and the U.S. Combined the two carriers, mainly composed of in-town routes, add approximately 1,600 trucks to the MediaVehicles fleet, bringing its total of pre-qualified, immediately available vehicles to nearly 10,000.

According to the Outdoor Advertising Association of America, the outdoor advertising industry is estimated to be a $5 billion industry in the U.S. and is growing by nearly 10% each year - faster than newspapers, magazines or broadcast television. Some experts predict that truckside advertising could itself become a $3 billion business within the next three to five years.
