Macy's Readies 'Shop For A Cause' Day

  • September 18, 2008
Macy's will hold its third annual "Shop For A Cause" day in all its stores and at macys.com on Saturday.

In the past two years, the event has raised $19 million for such causes as the American Heart Association and the Family Violence Prevention Fund. The Cincinnati-based retailer gives shopping passes to regional and local charities in all of its markets, which then sell the passes for $5 each.

The charities get to keep 100% of the proceeds, and consumers can redeem the passes for 20% discounts on most men's, women's, and kids' items, and 10% of most home items. Shopping passes are also sold at macys.com and at stores, with proceeds also distributed to charitable organizations.--Sarah Mahoney
