WNBC-TV: Cuts, New Focus

WNBC-TV is constructing a new content center for news, and longtime writers and producers are now applying for new jobs as content producers, reports Crain's New York. The catch? There is no guarantee that they will be hired or get their previous salary. Since management wants staff cuts, some jobs will be lost. Also, station vets worry whether the NBC flagship will continue to put an emphasis on breaking stories. GM Tom O'Brien says his new center will be the most advanced newsroom in the city and breaking news will continue to be a priority.
