RICHARD N. KAPLAN, President of CNN's United States newsgathering operation since 1997, has left the network. Kaplan, winner of 34 Emmys, served as producer for ABC News and President of CNN's USA operations. "I believe it best that I now move on," said Kaplan. "I thank the fine group of journalists that I have been privileged to work with. I believe that we have enhanced the quality of news coverage and improved the depth of reporting."
PHILIP KENT, former President of Turner Broadcasting System International will replace Kaplan and has been appointed to the new position of President and COO. EASON JORDAN, the President of CNN's international operations has been named President of Newsgathering and Chief News Executive of CNN News Group. JIM WALTON, the President of the Sports Division, will head the network group for the United States. CHRIS CRAMER, a former BBC news executive, will take over the international group.
