PlayStation Home Launches, Connects Brands With Consumers

Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. will launch today the PlayStation Home service for PlayStation3.

The long-awaited 3D social gaming community available on PS3 allows users to interact, communicate and share gaming experiences. Within PlayStation Home, users can create and customize avatars and explore the virtual community, communicating with others through text or voice chat.

The site invites brands to connect with consumers, too. Red Bull has created the Red Bull Island, where visitors to the Island can interact and take part in many of Red Bull's unique events. Gamers will have an opportunity to get inside the cockpit of a Red Bull Air Race plane and compete against the PlayStation community. The Red Bull Island will continue to add content in early 2009.--Laurie Sullivan
