Fortune surveyed executives and securities analysts and requested them to evaluate companies in their industry according to nine criteria: quality of management; quality of products and services; innovativeness; long-term investment value; financial soundness; ability to attract, develop and retain talent; community responsibility; use of corporate assets, and global business acumen.
Among all 379 of the global companies surveyed, the Times Company ranked number one in quality of products and services, and number two in community responsibility.
