Sadly, [in this interview Matthew] Wise appears to fundamentally misunderstand the very nature of the online advertising and privacy debate. Surely, he knows of the data collection, analytical
profiling, powerful digital advertising applications, and ubiquitous targeting system the industry has developed.
It's not just about use or "efficient" advertising, as he suggests. The very nature
of the system requires serious consumer protection safeguards, especially on privacy. Responsible industry leaders should acknowledge the problem and support legal safeguards.
