The pizza chain has enlisted pro football star Desmond Howard to take part in "The Countdown to Kickoff."

Here's how it works: If the opening kickoff of the Big Game on Feb. 1 is returned for a touchdown, everyone who registers at www.thecountdowntokickoff.com before 6 p.m. on that date will be eligible to receive a large, one-topping Papa John's pizza for just 25 cents, to mark the chain's 25th anniversary.

At the site, fans can see exclusive video commentary from Howard--who holds the record for the longest touchdown return in the history of the Super Bowl--and earn more special offers from Papa John's by displaying their football expertise.--Nina Lentini
