The Audit Bureau of Circulations, responding to demand for quicker delivery of circulation data for print media, launched a new service called Audit Fast Track. Audit Fast Track relocates the physical
location of the field auditor from the publisher's office to an ABC office. The new service takes advantage of the spread of digital record-keeping and online data-sharing to streamline the field
audit process, allowing field auditors to review publisher figures remotely. Mike Moran, ABC's executive vice president for audit services, said the change will "reduce the amount of time they spend
preparing for their audit; eliminate the requirement to host an auditor at their office for days or weeks at a time; increase audit turnaround times because we can begin the audit before the period
even closes; and allow us to further control and predict future audit costs by removing the travel element associated with the current model." ABC expects to conduct the "vast majority" of its
circulation audits this way by September 2010. --Erik Sass
