Alloy Media + Marketing Acquires Takkle.com

  • February 5, 2009
Alloy Media + Marketing has acquired Takkle.com, which focuses on resource and college recruitment for high school sports.

The site provides a platform and tools for high school athletes to create player and team profiles, share videos and photos, track and view statistics, and allows students to connect with team coaches and college sports recruiters for advancement opportunities.

The site draws in nearly one million athletes--both male and female-- and has attracted an array of advertisers, including Procter & Gamble's Tampax brand, Gatorade, and Spalding.

Matt Diamond, cofounder and CEO at Alloy Media + Marketing, said Takkle.com's technology platform and infrastructure impressed him as providing features that Alloy did not offer to athletes of all ages. One includes the ability for kids to visit the Web site and match themselves with "appropriate colleges" looking for athletes.

"We expect to grow the platform to provide more assistance in matching students with colleges," he said. Alloy gained 700,000 registrants in the deal. The company's network of sites reaches more than 20 million targeted youths.--Laurie Sullivan
