  • NCTA Head Addresses Digital TV

    NCTA President & CEO Robert Sachs yesterday today told attendees at the MSTV Digital TV Conference that the development of HDTV and other digital applications depended on all interested parties cooperating. “Our industry is committed to working with broadcasters and consumer electronics retailers to market and promote digital TV,” Sachs said. “Notwithstanding whatever policy differences we may have, it’s vital that we cooperate in the marketplace.” The nation’s leading cable operators, building on a voluntary commitment they made to FCC Chairman Michael Powell, currently are introducing high definition television (HDTV) tiers in cities across the country. ...Read the whole story

  • New Survey Defines Latino Consumer as Optimistic

    La Agencia de Orcí & Asociados, one of the largest independently owned Hispanic marketing agencies in the country, and the New America Alliance, the Washington D.C.-based non-profit organization of American Latino business leaders, have announced the first-ever U.S. Latino Economic Confidence Index (LECI). While a majority of the survey respondents felt that current economic conditions for U.S. Latinos mirror those faced by the general market, 82% of Latino leaders felt positive about business conditions and Latino consumer spending patterns six months hence.   • Tribune Online Unit, Tacoda Systems In Ad Software Pact

    Tribune Co. said yesterday that it has decided to use Tacoda Systems Inc.'s technology on its interactive news and information websites to provide targeted advertising to marketers and provide editorial content to users. According to company officials, the interactive unit will analyze online audience demographic and geographic information, behavioral patterns and traffic trends of registered and non-registered site users.
