Lipson began his professional career in the 1950s when he joined his father and partners to purchase Greater Philadelphia Magazine, now Philadelphia Magazine. After buying Boston magazine in 1971, he launched Manhattan, Inc., the newest publication ever to win a national magazine award. Lipson currently oversees production of both Philadelphia and Boston magazines. In the 60s, he was the first among his colleagues to write about issues such as homosexuality and birth control. "City magazines can break ground journalistically and earn the respect of their community," said Lipson. KEVIN RYAN, former Chief Operating Officer for DoubleClick, has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer. RUBY GOTTLIEB, 10-year Horizon Media veteran, has been named Senior VP, Director of Planning & Affiliated Media Services. MATTHEW LEIBLE, who comes to Horizon from Outdoor Services, Horizon Interactive, has been named Director of Out of Home Media. SHAZI VISRAM has been named Interactive Specialist. RICH ATTARDI has joined National Cable Communications as Regional Team Sales Manager. Prior to joining NCC, he served as Sales Manager for Metro Channels. JON STERN, former Director, VP in Burson-Marsteller's Brand Marketing practice, has been hired by Dan Klores Associates, Inc. as Executive VP. He will work in the Media, Business, Sports Group. BERNADETTE NAVAL has joined Meridian Project Systems (MPS) as Marketing Communications Manager. Before joining MPS, Naval worked at the Thacker Group and Z-World.
