    HEADLINERS THIS WEEK:

    DAVID CAREY is leaving Gruner + Jahr USA Publishing to become publisher of the New Yorker magazine, a post he previously held for almost three years.

    MICHAEL LEWITTES, former Weekend features editor and humor columnist for the New York Post, is joining Wenner Media's Us Weekly as Senior Editor.

    LYDELL CAPRITTA has joined Blue Diesel (formerly NGDA Interactive Communications) as CEO. Capritta, formerly President of the HMS Direct Marketing division in Columbus, has over 20 years of experience in both agency and client- side marketing and advertising.

    JEFF FINKEL has been promoted to General Sales Manager of ACME Television's Albuquerque duopoly KWBQ TV & KASY TV after serving as the NSM for the stations.

    CELESTE HAYES has been named senior account manager for Guideposts magazine. She had been the Health and Beauty Aids (HBA) Category Manager of Working Mother Magazine.

    JULIE STINE has been appointed Director of Client Partnerships at .Com Marketing. She joins .Com Marketing from her previous position as a marketing specialist for Teranex, Inc., in Orlando, Florida.

    PETER L. MAY has been named Vice President - Entertainment for Primedia Business Magazines & Media. He had worked for CMP Media (formerly Miller Freeman) in San Francisco as VP and group publisher of Network Magazine and tele.com.

    Ad agency Bulldog Drummond has recently complemented their creative team with the addition of senior copywriter CHRISTIAN MARECHAL. Marechal's wide range of experience includes being a journalist in the Bosnian War, and working as both a copywriter and creative director for several global agencies, including JWT, Saatchi and Greenaway Burdett Martin.

    MILT McCONNELL has been named to fill the new position of VP/National Sales of Citadel Broadcasting Company. He is a 30-year veteran broadcaster.

    BERT RHINE has been appointed President of California Creative Enterprises, Inc., a full service marketing and advertising agency. He previously served as the Creative Director working on the Metabolife International account for the agency.

    LUCILLE F. LUONGO has been named president and CEO of the Broadcast Pioneers Library of American Broadcasting. She had been a principal of Bridge Media, Inc.

    MICHAEL PROVUS has been promoted from sales development director to advertising director of Stuff magazine.

    JOANNE KATSCH has been named manager of integrated marketing services and custom publishing for Reader's Digest. She had been business manager for the Reader's Digest special interest magazines while working on projects in the Reader's Digest global strategy & development group.

    JASON HAIKARA has been promoted from VP of on-air planning and marketing administration to senior VP of on-air promotion and scheduling at Fox Broadcasting. Also at Fox, LOUISE CARTER has been upped from director of on-air planning to VP of on-air planning for the network.

    JODIE ROSENTHAL has joined the Palisades Media Group as senior vice president and broadcast director after spending 11 years at Initiative Media, most recently as VP and broadcast supervisor of the entertainment division for North America.

    KAREN COLEMAN and JACK SULLIVAN have been elected senior VPs of the Starcom North American management team at Starcom MediaVest Group. Coleman has been with Starcom for 16 years, and Sullivan works as a director of the Out Of Home unit of Starcom.
