  • RICK BOYKO, Chief Creative Officer of WPP Group's Ogilvy & Mather North America and Co-President of Ogilvy, New York, will retire from the agency next year to become the Managing Director of the Adcenter at Virginia Commonwealth University. Boyko has been the Chief Creative for Ogilvy North America for 14 years. Bill Gray, Co-president of Ogilvy, New York, will assume sole management.

  • Agency.com has promoted DON SCALES to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Scales has been with the marketing firm since February 2001, most recently as CEO of the company's North American operations, which includes offices in New York, Boston, Chicago, Dallas and San Francisco. Scales first joined Agency.com as Southwest Regional President, managing the Dallas office. Prior to that, he was Chief Executive Officer at eJiva, a division of Igate Capital.

  • Ogilvy Mexico has announced the appointment of LEOPOLDO RISSOTTO to Vice President, Director, of 360 Degree Development. Rissotto formerly held the position of Vice President of the operation in Argentina. He joined Ogilvy in 1999, and was instrumental in consolidating the OgilvyOne operation and all related units in Argentina, including OgilvyInteractive, OgilvyDataServices and DesignDirect. Prior to that, he lead the TravelPass Division at Shell Argentina, one of the most successful direct marketing programs in the country, and spent seven years in Spain, where he headed Contrapunto/BBDO, BBDO Madrid's DM subsidiary.

  • Also at VNU:JAN VANDENWYNGAERDEN has been appointed Managing Director of Promedia, effective February 1, 2003. Vandenwyngaerden is currently CEO of Sanoma Magazines Belgium, the largest publisher of magazines in Belgium. Vandenwyngaerden was appointed to that position in 1996, after many years in various sales and marketing functions within Unilever.

  • AudioAudit, a provider of patented broadcast verification technology services and products for the advertising and broadcast industries, announced that PETER A. LUND, the former President and CEO of CBS, Inc. and Executive of several other CBS divisions, has joined the company's Board of Directors. Lund, who is currently a private investor, media consultant, and Chairman of Eos International, Inc., has more than 40 years of experience in the broadcast and media industries, many of which were spent leading various business units at CBS.

  • DAN RANK, Managing Director at Omnicom Group media firm OMD USA, New York, is nearing an agreement to take a Senior Sales post with Universal Television Group, parent of USA Network and the Sci Fi Channel, according to several sources. Rank will be switching to the media sales side after years as a Senior Executive in the national broadcast buying community.

  • RICHARD (DICK) G. PORTER, a veteran magazine publisher who has worked for TV Guide, Reader’s Digest and Prevention Magazine, has joined American Profile Magazine and Publishing Group of America. Porter, who most recently served as Executive Vice President of Interactive Marketing Sales for AOL Time Warner, will serve as President of American Profile and Senior Vice President of Publishing for PGA.

  • Promotions at GQ magazine: SHELLEY COHN, former Retail Director, moves to Advertising Director; Advertising sales department member MARC BERGER jumps to Executive Fashion Director; and LOTTIE OAKLEY, the Vogue retail/new media director, moves to international fashion director. New hires include former Glamour Assistant Advertising Services Manager REBECCA BANNERMAN, as Advertising Service Manager; Former Talk Advertising Sales Corporate Director JIM CRAEMER as New Consumer Product Director; and former Mirabella and Gotham Advertising Director and Associate Group Publisher LISA FIELDS as Advertising Director.

  • Range Online Media has hired ERIC CLARK as Vice President of Media. Prior to joining the Fort Worth-based interactive marketer, Clark was marcom manager of Internet media for Radioshack.

  • The Los Angeles Direct Marketing Association has named LEON POTASINSKI, SVP, Director Marketing Services for La Agencia de Orcí & Asociados, as its newest board member. A native of Venezuela, Potasinski has 22 years of marketing, advertising and media experience in the Hispanic market. He broke into the Hispanic marketing and advertising field in New York with Conill Advertising in 1980. Over the years he has also been associated with Sosa & Associates in San Antonio and Bermudez & Associates in Los Angeles.

  • MarketSource, a provider of integrated marketing solutions, announced the promotion of Internet veteran MICHAEL J. KONOWICZ to Vice President, Integrated Marketing. Konowicz's previous roles with MarketSource included directing their strategic and media departments.

  • Rainmaker Systems Inc., a leading outsource provider of sales and marketing programs for service contracts, announced that MIKE DAVISON has joined the company as Vice President of Product Management and Marketing. Davison was previously Vice President of Planning and Operations for Preview Systems, a leading provider of digital goods supply chain solutions. Prior to Preview Systems, Davison held senior marketing, business development and product management positions at Apple and Informix.

  • SHANNON SULLIVAN joins NYCA as a Media Supervisor. She formerly worked on Nike and Alta Vista accounts for Wieden+Kennedy, Portland. At NYCA, Sullivan will plan and buy media for all accounts, including TaylorMade golf clubs, Maxfli golf balls and SignOnSanDiego.com.

  • STACIE UCHIDA joins NYCA as an Account Executive. Previously Uchida worked for two online agencies in San Francisco. She will work on The San Diego Union-Tribune and SignOnSanDiego.com accounts.

  • PRIMEDIA Inc., a targeted media company, announced that SABRINA WEILL has been named Editor-In-Chief of Seventeen. Weill most recently held the title of Executive Editor at CosmoGIRL!, published by the Hearst Corporation.

  • TV Guide Editor in Chief STEVEN REDDICLIFFE has resigned after just over seven years at the helm. A company statement would only say that the editor is leaving to "pursue other media and entertainment projects."

  • Palo Alto-based Lena Chow Euro RSCG, a healthcare advertising agency, announced the appointment of BYRON KAWAICHI as Senior Art Director. Prior to joining Lena Chow Euro RSCG, Kawaichi worked for agencies Harrison Wilson, Sperling Sampson West and FCB HealthCare.

  • Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation announced NANCY MURRAY has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs, a newly created position. Prior to joining Polo, she was Vice President of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications at BF Holdings, Inc., responsible for financial and trade media relations, crisis management and public relations across the $2 billion New York-based corporation.

  • Jumpstart Digital Marketing, Inc., an interactive media sales, marketing and technology company, has hired ERNEST "SKIP" ESCH to be Director of Sales & Strategy, a new position in the company's Local Advertising Sales Division. Esch comes to Jumpstart Digital Marketing from AOL Time Warner Inc. where, mostly recently, he was Senior Manager, Automotive-Local Partnership Group, based in New York.


  • STEPHEN JACOBY, the former InStyle Associate Publisher of Marketing will take over the same position at Esquire. Prior to joining InStyle, Jacoby worked for Conde Nast.

  • National Geographic Television & Film has named WILLIAM WEIL Senior Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. Weil will manage daily operations of the video and sponsorship business.

  • LA Inc., The Convention and Visitors Bureau has announced the appointment of DERRICK FRANKLIN to Director, Regional Sales in LA Inc.'s Washington D.C. sales office. Previously, Franklin was Global Account Director for Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Washington, D.C. where he managed association accounts. He also worked for The Westin Resort Hilton Head Island and the Atlantic City Convention and Visitors Authority.
