  • CHRIS SCHEMBRI has been named vice president, media at Discovery Networks U.S. In his new role, Schembri will oversee the media planning and strategy efforts across Discovery’s 13 U.S. networks. Schembri is responsible for media positioning and cross-network promotion in accordance with major campaigns and company initiatives. He is also charged with the creation and execution of media partnerships and management of the Discovery Networks media planning teams and an external media agency.

  • Mediaedge:cia has named JON ANTHONY ESPEJO as a communications manager in its Chicago office. Formerly with Starcom Worldwide, Espejo will provide strategic planning insights to the development of communication plans for Barilla and Jim Beam accounts.

  • PointRoll has named PETER JOHNSON as director of account management. He will be responsible for leading PointRoll's account management group. Prior to PointRoll, Johnson was manager of Eyeblaster's Agency Services Team. While there, he was responsible for strategic and daily management of all creative and media agency accounts that work with the Eyeblaster rich media tool.

  • TEEN PEOPLE has tapped MANNY FUENTES as its new associate publisher. Most recently, Fuentes served as advertising director at Elle Girl.

  • According to Advertising Age,PAUL SILBURN has been named executive creative director at Fallon Worldwide. He was the deputy creative director of TBWA, London.

  • MARK PAPIA (pictured), formerly sales vice president at Intermix Media, has been promoted to senior vice president. Papia’s role within the company will expand to include sales of both branded- and performance-based media and oversight of all marketing and PR initiatives. Prior to joining Intermix in July, Papia was in strategic alliances and sales at Yahoo! and Monster. Intermix also announced that COREY FRIEDMAN has joined the company as sales vice president for the Eastern region. Friedman, who will be headquartered in New York City, was a former Yahoo! sales manager. STACEY PEAR, also formerly with Yahoo! in New York, becomes New York manager.

  • Horizon Media has promoted KAREN LANGSFELD to vice president, account group head, up from account group head in Horizon’s Los Angeles office. She continues to oversee several of the agency’s gaming and entertainment clients and is supported by a team of account supervisors, account executives, and assistants. Langsfeld joined Horizon in May 2001 from Catalyst (formerly TBS Media) in Los Angeles where she was an associate media director. Prior to that, she was a media supervisor at Seininger Advertising in Beverly Hills and also spent time as a media supervisor at Bozell Technology Group in New York.

  • After two years, BABAK FARROKH-SIAR has left Carat Los Angeles to join Kovel/Fuller as media buyer where he will work on both network and spot activity for the agency.

  • MATT PARKER has joined Stein Rogan + Partners as associate creative director, after three years at Digitas. While there, Parker worked on accounts including Best Buy, American Express, AOL, and the NBA. Additionally, JIN KIM, senior vice president, operations for the past three years, is launching the agency’s first West Coast office this month in Los Angeles.

  • Video Monitoring Services (VMS) has promoted NEAL PERCHUK to senior vice president of sales. Perchuk will be responsible for sales and services for VMS' News, Ad Services, and InSight analysis divisions. Perchuk, who has been with VMS since Nov. 2003, previously held the position of vice president of news sales.

  • Moxie Interactive has promoted SHELLEY BERTSCH to chief marketing officer, BOB CONQUEST to chief creative officer, and JANA STECKLER to vice president of client services.

  • REI INAMOTO has joined AKQA as global creative director, responsible for delivering creative solutions to the agency's international clients such as Nike and Xbox. He will initially join the newly formed New York office. Inamoto most recently served as the executive creative director for R/GA, where he worked on accounts such as Nike, Purina, CableVision, and Reuters' digital signage project in Times Square.

  • JIMMY SMITH has joined BBDO New York as an executive creative director. Smith comes to BBDO from Wieden + Kennedy where he created television advertising for Nike. He will divide his time between New York and Los Angeles.

  • DANIELLE BOTTARI has been promoted to advertising director at Max Custom Media (formerly m@x Racks), responsible for overseeing the national sales team as well as the launch of its new event marketing division, MaxBuzz. Prior to joining Max Custom Media as account manager, she was the partner, group director for Mindshare’s WOW Factory where she spent seven years managing accounts such as American Express Global, IBM Worldwide, Starwood, Kodak, GTE Wireless, and Kraft.

  • Discovery Network’sJOHN CARROZZA was promoted to senior vice president, advertising revenue and planning, national advertising sales for the network’s U.S. operations. In his new post, Carrozza is responsible for all ad sales proposals submitted to agencies, inventory portfolio management for Discovery’s 14 U.S. networks, and supervision of Discovery’s direct response unit. Before joining Discovery, Carrozza spent 17 years at ABC and Family Channel, most recently with ABC Family Worldwide Inc., where he was executive vice president, sales planning for ABC Family Channel/Disney Kids Network.

  • REVShare, television’s broker of performance-based advertising, has added ADAM WARREN to its management team, as vice president of network development, in an effort to expand the company’s pay-per-call network. Previously, Warren developed the direct response division at TeleRep, a national television ad sales firm.

  • ContextWeb Inc., a provider of real-time contextual advertising, has named BILL WISE to its board of directors. Wise will have a strategic leadership and advisory role on the board as the company continues to grow from a technology business to a full-scale media corporation. Since 2002 Wise has been the chief operating officer of MaxOnline, a division of Ask Jeeves. Before joining MaxOnline he was the vice president of business strategy and direct marketing for DoubleClick’s North American Media Network.

  • ALEJANDRO VITALE has joined Hispanic advertising agency CreativeOndemanD (C.O.D), as director of integrated marketing. Vitale’s responsibilities will include new business development and cultivating strategic business alliances. Prior to joining C.O.D., Vitale worked at Miami-based advertising agency accentmarketing, where he supervised the General Motors Public Policy account for the U.S. Hispanic market.

  • Digital Edge, Mediaedge:cia’s interactive communications division, has named JENNIFER BORENSTEIN as associate director, strategy and insights. Borenstein will analyze data and consumer research to help guide campaign strategy. She will also work with MEC’s direct media unit Wunderman Media and MEC’s search marketing unit Outrider.

  • STEVEN J. VOCI has been appointed vice president of sales at Ripe Digital Entertainment. Voci will oversee the company's funding process and spearhead advertising sales, as it moves toward the launch of RipeTV, a free, ad supported, video-on-demand television network. Previously, Voci served as head of business development for Zentropy.

  • Giant Ideas, a Pittsburgh-based agency, is opening a Denver office on Dec. 1. ROBERT ROBB, vice president of marketing communications for Adelphia Communications Corp., has been tapped to head the office as executive vice president of client services.

  • TakeONE Marketing Group, a provider of online reward programs services, has named KEN MARLIN as vice president of sales. Marlin will be responsible for driving revenue and managing the company’s new business development efforts.

  • Interactive marketing firm Rare Method has acquired Cogent Media, a Calgary-based Web site design and marketing company. As part of the transaction, Cogent principals GEOFF PLEWES and TREVOR PADDOCK have joined Rare Method as senior strategists / account managers.

  • Wilen Media sales manager PAUL CARAVELLO has been promoted to vice president of sales. Caravello will now manage the agency's entire sales division.

  • MORGAN MCDOWELL has joined blast! PR as a program manager. McDowell is responsible for overseeing strategic public relations programs for the public relations and creative agency’s client roster.

  • JOHN CARTER has joined Ipsos’ consumer products division in New York as vice president. Carter joins Ipsos from A&G Research, where he was a vice president for the past two years. Carter will spearhead a consumer research team built around a roster of leading packaged goods clients.

  • JENNIFER DIRKS has joined Bader Rutter & Associates as an account executive. Dirks will be working with the agency’s financial services and consumer clients. Prior to joining Bader Rutter, she worked as a public relations account executive at Zeppos & Associates.
