  • Zach Gallagher

    Deutsch LA hired Zach Gallagher as executive vice president, director of digital strategy. Over the course of his 18 year career in digital marketing, Gallagher has developed digital, social, commerce and CRM strategies for brands like Virgin Atlantic, Toyota, Coca-Cola, American Express, Old Spice, Nike, Facebook and Sony. He joins the agency from Wieden+Kennedy Portland, where he led the Interactive, Social and Data Strategy disciplines. Before joining W+K in 2011, Gallagher was general manager of the IPG Emerging Media Lab in LA. "I'm thrilled that Zach is joining our team and looking forward to his experience and interest in integrating digital and general strategy to get to big ideas," said Jeffrey Blish, chief strategic officer of Deutsch LA. Gallagher is recognized for his work at TBWA\Chiat\Day developing the strategy behind the Pepsi Refresh Project and more recently for building the social practice at Wieden+Kennedy, winning social AOR duties for Coca-Cola, Powerade, Velveeta, Herbal Essences and others. "I'm really, really excited about getting to a place where digital plays such a big role in how we affect our clients' businesses," said Gallagher. "Being able to work under Jeffrey Blish and Winston Binch to bring the best integrated strategic thinking to the table is sort of the dream scenario."
  • Dino Spadavecchia, Chris Hutchinson and Driscoll Reid
    David&Goliath
    David&Goliath hired Dino Spadavecchia as group creative director, and longtime creative partners Chris Hutchinson and Driscoll Reid as creative directors. The trio will report to Colin Jeffery, D&G's newly appointed chief creative officer. Spadavecchia joins the agency from Leo Burnett, where he served as senior vice president/creative director since 2012, working on General Motors. Hutchinson and Reid join D&G from TBWA\Chiat\Day, where they created a World Cup campaign for Adidas' Brazuca. In their new roles, Spadavecchia, Hutchinson, and Reid will work on numerous brands on the agency's roster, including Kia, CA Lottery, VIZIO, and a few unannounced projects. "Our agency has experienced considerable growth over the last few years," said Jeffery. "Adding Dino, Chris, and Driscoll to our creative management team will allow us to take advantage of the momentum and continue to elevate our creative product." Spadavecchia's 15-year career in advertising includes work on Chevrolet, HP, Hyundai, Logitech, Mazda, Nintendo, Toyota, and Dew Action Sports Tour. He's worked at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners and Saatchi & Saatchi LA, among other agencies. Hutchinson and Reid met during ad school in 2004 at W+K 12 and have since worked together at many well-known shops. They spent a total of five years working together at Wieden+Kennedy's Portland and Tokyo offices, with their main focus on the flagship Nike brand. Between the two of them, they've worked on Nike, LIVESTRONG, Electronic Arts, Coca-Cola and Old Spice, and most recently, Southwest Airlines, Adidas and Gatorade.

    Publicis Seattle named Jason Lucas as executive vice president, executive creative director. An East Coast native, Lucas relocated to Seattle from VML in New York, where he was a creative director working on clients including Gatorade, Miller-Coors, Dell, Kellogg's and Colgate. Reporting to chief creative officer Andrew Christou, Lucas will be responsible for overseeing the creative department on the T-Mobile account. Prior to VML, Lucas worked at BBDO NY and Deep Focus, among other agencies. While at BBDO NY, his work for M&M's, Snickers and FedEx won him numerous awards including a Cannes Lion, One Show Pencils, ADDYs and OMMA Awards. "Jason's a bottle of lightning, a high-character guy who is uber-creative and whip smart," said Christou. "He's built a career on doing great work on great brands across every channel. His addition to an already talented team will make our agency and our work even better."

    Matthew Anderson joined FCB Garfinkel as executive vice president, director of content creation, a new position at the New York agency. Anderson joins the agency from JWT New York, where he served as director of brand production. He will report directly to agency CEO, Lee Garfinkel. Andserson has spent nearly 20 years in the industry, creating print, broadcast and digital work for clients including Rolex, Kraft, Burger King, Puma, Huggies, Miller High Life and Nestle. At FCB Garfinkel, Anderson will oversee all production efforts on accounts including the Jamaica Tourist Board, SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, FDA, Fisher-Price and NIVEA. "Matthew has a track record of fostering a culture that puts ideas and problem-solving -- no matter the challenge -- first and foremost," said Garfinkel. "He is A-class talent and highly regarded in the industry, just the kind of passionate production partner we need." Prior to JWT New York, Anderson worked at Hill Holliday, Young & Rubicam and Crispin Porter + Bogusky.

    Young & Rubicam Group Seattle added Jennifer Patterson as chief strategy officer, tasked with leading and growing the strategic planning discipline across the agency. Patterson most recently served as executive vice president, director of planning at Deutsch where she crafted long-term vision for clients including DIRECTV, HTC, California Milk Advisory Board, and Target. Before that, she was head of planning at la comunidad and worked at Weiden+Kennedy for ten years. "Jennifer's innovative mindset and pioneering spirit will bring a forward-thinking perspective to the Seattle team," said Julie Rezek, Y&R Group Seattle's managing director, to whom Patterson will report. "Her ability to build relationships and provide creative solutions combined with her expertise in strategic leadership means that Jennifer can hit the ground running."

    Starcom USA hired Dan Mitz as vice president, director of deliver practice, which optimizes plans against paid, owned and earned media, manages negotiations in the marketplace and provides direction to bring ideas to life in the market, for the Allstate and Esurance accounts. Based in Chicago, Mitz joins Starcom from Initiative, New York where he oversaw the Hyundai/Kia account in the Investment Group for the past six years. While there, Mitz also served as lead Sports consultant across clients because of his passion and expertise in the sports and broadcast realm. Mitz negotiated cross channel sponsorships tied to the Super Bowl, The Walking Dead, The Voice, VMA's and the World Cup. Prior to Initiative, Mitz worked at Mindshare on the Domino's and Marines accounts. He reports to Karla Knecht, executive vice president, managing director at Starcom. "I'm excited to have Dan join the team as he embodies the perfect combination of expertise, passion and partnership to propel our clients business," said Knecht. "I know he will be a great lead for both accounts."

    Global digital agency Essence, hired Rob Reifenheiser as North American head of media, charged with overseeing the agency's programmatic, biddable, planning, campaign management, investment and advertising operations teams across its New York, San Francisco and Seattle offices. Reifenheiser will work out of Essence's New York office and report to Christian Juhl, global chief executive officer of Essence. Reifenheiser most recently served as executive vice president, managing director at MediaVest. While there, he led the businesses for Wal-Mart, Heineken, Turner Broadcasting System, TD Ameritrade and Microsoft's Windows Phone. He began his career at Saatchi & Saatchi, where he was a group planning director for Procter & Gamble. He also previously served as managing partner, account director of the American Express and Sprint/Nextel accounts at Mindshare. "Rob's experience managing multiple accounts with budgets in excess of $1 billion is exactly the kind of expertise we were looking for to lead our rapidly growing business," said Juhl. "But what's even more impressive than his well-pedigreed resume is his obvious passion for implementing innovation on behalf of clients. I expect our partners will see immediate impact."

    Omelet named Shannon McGlothin as group creative director. In this position McGlothin will help lead creative efforts for the company's roster of clients, and will report to Sarah Anderson, Omelet's partner and chief creative officer. Since joining Omelet, McGlothin has been a lead on several projects, including global and integrated campaigns for Microsoft as well as upcoming work for Red Bull. McGlothin most recently served as the global executive creative director on Samsung at Leo Burnett. Prior to that, he worked at Wieden + Kennedy and Crispin Porter + Bogusky, on brands like Coca-Cola, Nike, The GAP and Electronic Arts. "Shannon is an outstanding addition to Omelet's creative leadership and will be a key player as our company continues evolving into the future," said Anderson. "His background in creating award-winning global campaigns along with his passion for visual storytelling makes him a powerful addition to our team."

    Tribal Worldwide, part of Omnicom Group's DDB Worldwide Communications Group, promoted Amy Elkins to head of client services. Tribal's Account Management, Project Management and Engagement Management departments will continue to operate independently but will all now report directly to Elkins, who is based in New York. Elkins has worked at Tribal for the past eight years and previously held the title of head of engagement management. Prior to Tribal, Elkins worked at agencies including DDB New York, ATTIK San Francisco, Euro RSCG and JWT as well as within the marketing organization at Mercedes-Benz USA. "Amy has been at the agency for almost a decade and her expertise and leadership skills will ensure that Tribal New York is best able to exceed its client's expectations, while growing into the vision that has been established for Tribal over the years" said Rich Guest, U.S. President of Tribal Worldwide.
