  • Marcello Serpa and Jose Luiz Madeira

    Following a 22-year stint, Marcello Serpa and Jose Luiz Madeira are leaving Almap BBDO in Brazil. Two years ago, the pair gave day-to-day management duties to Luiz Sanches, chief creative officer, Rodrigo Andrade, chief operating officer and Cintia Goncalves, chief strategy officer. The trio now takes full leadership responsibility for the agency and the group. Serpa and Madeira joined Almap BBDO in 1993 as partners. "It is simply impossible to overstate the impact and contribution that Marcello and Jose Luiz have had on the advertising business in Brazil, across the world, and for BBDO Worldwide," said Andrew Robertson, president and CEO, BBDO Worldwide "Their consistent success is a function both of their leadership brilliance and their ability to attract and retain the very best people in the business -- and that includes Luiz, Cintia and Rodrigo, who will succeed them."

    Dan Donovan rejoined McCann New York as executive creative director. Donovan spent the past several years at CP+B Boulder where he served as vice president, executive creative director. Donovan began his advertising career at McCann NY, rising from creative assistant to senior vice president, group creative director and working on the Verizon Fios, U.S. Army and Nikon accounts, to name a few. While at CP+B, Donovan led creative teams on Microsoft and Charles Schwab and was responsible for the award-winning "Captain Obvious" Hotels.com campaign. "Years ago, when Dan left McCann, he quickly became 'the one that got away,'" said Sean Bryan, co-chief creative officer of McCann NY. "He's a great creative with brilliant ideas and we watched his work get better and better over the years. To welcome him back to the McCann family is really exciting for all of us."

    Colle+McVoy added John Doyle as executive director of brand experience, a new position at the agency. Doyle will be responsible for inventing and reinventing new mediums to drive business growth for clients. He will report to Christine Fruechte, CEO of Colle+McVoy. Doyle most recently served as senior vice president/managing director at LiquidThread USA, where he led a team across multiple content initiatives for brands such as Honda, Aflac, Bank of America, Jack Daniel's and Coca-Cola. Prior to that, he was senior vice president, director of experience design at Starcom MediaVest Group, and vice president and interactive strategy director at Cramer Krasselt, where he led the agency's digital practice. "John's expansive expertise in strategy, digital, social, media, experiential and content creation is a unique and rare combination," said Fruechte. "His pedigree and visionary thinking will further fuel the innovative ideas we bring our clients and drive consumer engagement and business growth."

    DigitasLBi named Alvaro Cabrera as chief strategy officer for North America. He will report to Tony Weisman, CEO of DigitasLBi North America. Most recently, Cabrera was managing director and head of engagement planning at OgilvyOne New York. Cabrera was also the global lead for OgilvyOne's proprietary planning methodology and tool. While there, he led a group of 40 engagement planners and strategists with clients such as IBM, Aetna, BlackRock, Coca-Cola, UPS, E*Trade and American Express. Before OgilvyOne, Cabrera was chief idea officer at both The Bakery in New York and NXT, a division of GlobalHue. "Alvaro has the ability to find the key insights only human analysis uncovers from data," said Weisman. "He is an award-winning strategist and creative thinker who takes that information and uses it to build the innovative strategies marketers need to engage consumers today. Alvaro is respected among his peers, and his leadership inspires colleagues to do the same. We couldn't be more excited to have him join us."
