  • Carlos Matias and Hunter Simms
    AKQA
    AKQA promoted Carlos Matias to international design director. Matias will oversee the design and branding practices across AKQA's offices in the US and Europe. He will be based in New York and report to Duan Evans, international executive creative director and Giles McCormack, international managing director. Matias has worked for AKQA since 2011 and prior to his promotion, served as design director in AKQA's London office. Together with his design team, he developed the visual language for the Nike Rise House of Mamba basketball initiative. The campaign is AKQA's most awarded project, garnering more than 50 trophies. Prior to AKQA, Matias worked in art direction roles at agencies and design companies in his home country of Portugal. In addition, AKQA hired Hunter Simms as creative director in the agency's New York office, where he will work on a variety of clients. "These appointments signify an exciting new chapter for AKQA, specifically in New York," said McCormack. "Carlos and Hunter are incredible creative talents and will make a huge impact."
  • Tyler Beck

    TM Advertising hired Tyler Beck as chief strategy officer. He will lead the agency's planning department and head up strategic initiatives across all client relationships. Beck joins TM from Publicis Dallas where he served as senior vice president, director of consumer insights for three years. While there, he pitched and won several accounts including 24 Hour Fitness, Delta Dental and Capital One retail banking. Prior to Publicis, Beck held senior roles at BBDO New York, Lowe Worldwide and TBWA/Chiat/Day. Throughout his career, Beck has worked on brands including Nissan, Visa, Samsung, Mars, Starbucks, Guinness, P&G, New Balance, Unilever, Stella Artois, Citibank and The Economist.
  • Scott Voege
    Erwin Penland
    Erwin Penland hired Scott Voege as senior vice president, group account director. Voege will report to Karen Mawhinney, managing director of Erwin Penland, and work in the agency's Greenville, SC headquarters. At the client level, he will be responsible for leading and growing the Denny's and Pilot/Flying J accounts. Voege began his career at Campbell-Ewald, before joining Leo Burnett as account director and then McKinney as an account director. He has led account teams on brands in the insurance/financial, retail, CPG, gaming and automotive fields, including Nationwide, Allstate, Bob Evans and Grainger.
  • Kevin Drew Davis
    DDB San Francisco
    Kevin Drew Davis was named chief creative officer of DDB San Francisco. Davis joined DDB in 2013 as chief creative officer of DDB Canada, before taking the role of executive creative director of DDB Chicago in late 2014. He will transition from Chicago to San Francisco by the end of the year. While at DDB Chicago, Davis worked on McDonald's and FiatChrysler. He spearheaded the agency's Cannes Lion-winning "Lovin' the Super Bowl" Twitter campaign, which shared the love with other Super Bowl advertisers and made McDonald's the most retweeted brand in a single day.

    Advertising agency The Republik is naming Dylan Clayton Bost as its newly created minister of innovation. The agency is well-known for its unique titles and says this job is equivalent to a director of technology. He will be based in Durham, North Carolina and report to commander Robert Shaw West. 

    Bost’s focus will be on helping clients and agency "see the possibilities in the many emerging digital technologies now available for use in digital advertising and marketing, website development, content management, and in analytics," says the agency. 

    Previously, Bost was CEOof digital marketing agency Ulanguzi Creative Strategies, Raleigh, where he advised clients including Wachovia Bank, Red Hat and BB&TBank. Earlier in his career, as an imagineer at Disney World, Orlando, his job was to help the park’s architects, interior designers and landscapers visualize different development possibilities.
