  • Laura Chiavone
    Tribal Worldwide
    Tribal Worldwide New York hired Laura Chiavone as chief strategy officer. She will oversee the agency's strategic disciplines and staff, including digital strategy, social strategy, SEO strategy, and account planning. Chiavone reports to Richard Guest, president of Tribal Worldwide North America. The chief strategy officer position in New York has been vacant since 2015.

    Chiavone joins the agency from DM9DDB in Brazil, where she most recently served as senior vice president and head of strategy. Prior to that, she founded Limo Inc., a research and trendspotting boutique, working for Heineken, Nike and Mondelez, to name a few. Chiavone also held leadership roles at Y&R and AlmapBBDO.

    Tribal Worldwide New York Office was recently named agency of record for ERA Real Estate, and tapped by Boys & Girls Clubs of America to develop a social media strategy for the non-profit.

  • Gavin Lester
    Zambezi
    Zambezi hired Gavin Lester as its first chief creative officer in its 10-year history. He also has been named an equity Partner in the agency.

    Lester joins the agency following freelance work at 72andSunny. Lester recently worked with Zambezi on a freelance basis on its "Come As You Are" campaign for Las Vegas Sands Corp's Venetian Resort. He previously served as executive vice president, executive creative director at Deutsch LA, where he led creative for Sprint.

    Throughout a 20-year career, Lester has worked in London, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles, for agencies 180LA, Goodby, Silverstein & Partners and BBH London and NYC. He created national and global work for Levis, Lexus, Sony, Netflix and Google, among others.

  • Katy Hornaday and Paul Corrigan
    Barkley
    Barkley promoted Katy Hornaday to executive creative director and Paul Corrigan to executive design director, leading Barkley’s Blacktop design unit.

    Most recently creative director, Hornaday led creative for Hershey, Anheuser-Busch, Cargill, Noodles & Company and Vanity Fair. Before Barkley, she was a senior copywriter at Crispin, Porter + Bogusky, working on Old Navy and Baby Carrots, before moving to Mullen Boston as associate creative director for Zappos and JetBlue. Hornaday replaces Jason Elm, who is leaving the agency.

    As part of Corrigan's promotion, Barkley's experience design team will now report to him within the Blacktop design unit. He has worked for Barkley since 2004 and previously held the titles of vice president/interactive creative director, executive creative director, and design director. He replaces Blacktop founder Shawn Polowniak, who is leaving the agency.

  • Rob Chandler and Daniel Prestes
    Karmarama
    Karmarama has tapped Rob Chandler for the newly created strategy lead role for data-driven content. He reports to Karmarama chairman Jon Wilkins.<

    Chandler is a familiar face to Wilkins, having worked with him at Naked Communications where he was the global business lead. Wilkins was a co-founder. More recently, he held consultancy roles working with companies including Virgin Airlines.

    Meanwhile, Daniel Prestes joins in the newly created strategy director role working with CSO Sid McGrath on accounts including Clydesdale, Just Eat and Unibet. He reports to head of planning Will Hodge. The industry veteran has spent time at agencies in London, Amsterdam and Brazil, specializing in innovation as well as brand and digital planning.

    Both executives will be based in London.

"Rob and Dan bring the expertise to keep us strategically ahead of the curve, enhancing Karmarama's existing skillset in digital, content and innovation."

    Karmarama was acquired by Accenture late last year.

    Deutsch New York promoted Rachel Mercer to senior vice president, head of digital strategy and invention. Mercer joined the agency in May 2016, as vice president, digital strategy director, and played a key role in the agency winning the social and digital business for AB InBev's Busch brand.

    Her daily duties include overseeing digital and social outputs across clients like Sherwin-Williams, Green Giant and PNC Bank. Prior to Deutsch, Mercer worked at consulting firm The Upside in London as strategy & innovation director, building business opportunities for Adidas, Google and Kiehl's. She also worked in Deutsch's LA office, on the development of the Esurance Fuelcaster. In addition, she designed and developed products at CP+B and Mobelux.
