Tricon Tries Fox

  • June 5, 2001
Tricon Global Restaurants Inc., the parent company of Pizza Hut, KFC and Taco Bell, has signed a wide-ranging $90 million advertising deal with Fox that includes network and cable promotions. Under the agreement with Fox, a unit of Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., Tricon will get advertising for its restaurant chains on Fox's prime time shows, sports programming, syndicated shows as well as Fox's cable networks. The deal comes just days after Procter & Gamble Co., a major consumer products maker, signed a similar deal with Viacom Inc. to spend $300 million over the next year on the CBS network, MTV cable channel and other Viacom media properties.
