  • February 11, 2009
Eric Silver has been named DDB New York chief creative officer. Previously, Silver was an executive creative director at BBDO, leading award-winning campaigns for Monster.com, BBC, DirecTV, FedEx and Guinness. He also won an Emmy in 2006. Silver takes the reins at DDB from Lee Garfinkel, who had been with the agency since 2003 and left to pursue other opportunities.

Silver began his tenure in the ad business as a copywriter at Chiat Day, Goodby, Silverstein & Partners and Wieden+Kennedy. He had a stint as a writer for "Late Show With David Letterman" before returning to the agency world. At Cliff Freeman, he made comic ads for Fox Sports, then led the agency's efforts for Mike's Hard Lemonade, Quiznos and Budget Rent A Car. Joining BBDO New York in 2003, he served as a copywriter and creative director, winning many industry accolades. --Fern Siegel
