Key 'Idol' Judges May Leave Hit Show

  • April 27, 2009
The two biggest stars on Fox's "American Idol" have discussed leaving, reports Reuters -- which could send viewers fleeing and severely impact millions of dollars in ad revenue. Two judges, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell, have expressed interest in exiting the hit show. "You take out one person like Paula or Simon, [and] you're affecting every other player in this grid," said Time magazine TV critic James Poniewozik. "They're a family, a dysfunctional family, and it's tough to mess with that."

That's too bad. The comment regarding Simon and Paula being part of a dysfunctional family is right on target. The dynamics of the two of them are enjoyable but I think I would be more disappointed in Simon leaving. Even though he comes across as crotchety and negative he is usual right on target with his commentary. Not having him would leave the show a little less colorful.
