Facebook Expands 'Insights' Metrics For Brand Pages

  • May 6, 2009
Facebook has upgraded its analytics dashboard for Facebook Pages, giving marketers and others with public profiles on the social network greater insight into how people respond to their communications and content.

New features include a new graph showing different types of fan interactions over time, a new weekly count of active fans, and a new "post quality" rating from 1 to 5 stars. Post quality is determined by the percentage of fans who interact with new content posted to a Facebook Page, calculated on a rolling seven-day basis. The rating is also tied to how a Page's post quality compares to similar ones, such as those with an equivalent number of fans.

With status updates added to Facebook Pages under the site's redesign, a new "Stream click-through" graph will allow brands to gauge the effectiveness of different types of status update messages in galvanizing fans.
